How to reach La Casa di Ruggero

• Airports: Empoli is less than one hour away (by train or by car) from both Florence Airport and Pisa Airport. Both these airports have several connecting flights to/from Milan and Rome and also direct flights to the principal European hubs. Amongst the many airlines serving at least one of the two airports, Ryanair has flights to Pisa from London Stansted (four times a day in the summer, and twice a day in the winter), Frankfurt Hahn (twice daily), Brussels and Hamburg; British Airways flies the London Gatwick-Pisa route twice a day and also has flights from Manchester; Lufthansa connects Frankfurt with Florence (4 times a day) and Munich with Florence (4 times a day) and Pisa (up to 3 times a day); Meridiana has a twice daily Florence-London Gatwick, plus flights to Amsterdam and Barcelona, while Iberia has daily Pisa-Barcelona and Pisa-Madrid fligths. Paris is served jointly by Alitalia and Air France, with six flights a day from Florence and three from Pisa.
• Train: La Casa di Ruggero is within walking distance of Empoli railway station, situated on the main line between Florence and Pisa (including Pisa Airport), with very frequent services all calling at Empoli. Thus in about 30 minutes you can reach Florence and Pisa (about 35 minutes to and from Pisa Airport, which is very convenient if you're coming by plane!). See here for the timetable. Empoli has also a train service to the wonderful town of Siena (1 hour).
• By car: Empoli is on the Florence-Pisa-Livorno route (the so called 'Fi-Pi-Li') which also links the airports. Exit at Empoli Ovest (West) if you are coming from Pisa, Empoli Est (East) if you are coming from Florence, then follow the indications for the town center. There are several car parks in the center, including parking meters in Via Salvagnoli, where 'La Casa di Ruggero' is, and also free parking spaces, especially around Piazza Matteotti (Matteotti square) or Piazza Guido Guerra which are just a couple of minutes' walk from us. A secure long-stay parking garage, with affordable rates, is also within walking distance.
